Jenny & Roman: Sunny & Bright, Celtic-Inspired Intimate Wedding in Kerry

The greatest gift for a couple getting married in Ireland is for the sun to come out in full, brilliant glory.  Everything is lush and green and glorious.  Lakes and rivers glisten and sparkle in the sunlight while oceans and coastlines come alive in brilliant sapphire hues.  Birds are chirping, sheep are grazing lazily on the hills, and a soft cool breeze seems to breath an undercurrent of life in everything. It’s Nature in her full Irish splendor, and it’s enchanting and magical and even better in person than you could ever imagine!

Roman and Jenny were the lucky recipients of an absolutely stunning spring day earlier this year.  After weeks of solid, pouring rain, the clouds parted the morning of their wedding day and gave way to an exquisite blue sky and bright, warm sun.  To capture the incredible Kerry backdrop was one of our faves — Shane of Aspect Photography.  Jenny and Roman really wanted to focus the day on the spiritual, traditional Celtic tradition of Ireland.  It was important to them to incorporate as much of Nature as possible into their day, so they chose an incredible ancient stone circle dating back to the Bronze Age as the location for their ceremony.  Their wedding included many Celtic and Irish traditions, including the traditional Irish uillean pipes to perfectly set the mood.  Please enjoy the incredible photos from Jenny and Ronan’s beautiful intimate wedding in southwestern Ireland. This, is their story….

How They Met

Jenny and Roman met back in 2005 while on a hiking track in Israel.  For about a year they remained good friends, but then their eyes began to open to each other that their friendship could be something more.  Fast forward to an engagement commemorated with matching Claddagh wedding ring tattoos!

A Spiritual Connection

“We wanted a beautiful location with a unique spirit,” recalls Jenny.  After some suggestions and pouring through our BLOG, they felt themselves drawn to the southwestern part of Ireland.  Kerry really provides the perfect balance of traditional, authentic Ireland with an incredible natural backdrop and a connection to Ireland’s spiritual past.  Jenny and roman envisioned a spiritual ceremony outdoors, incorporating lots of traditional Celtic traditions.  “We chose the to have our ceremony in an ancient place where we could feel the powerful energy of Nature.  During our ceremony at the stone circle, we began to really feel that energy around us and knew it was the right place for us and our day,” says Jenny.  The music was traditional Irish uillean pipes, and they exchanged Claddagh rings for their wedding bands.

A casual celebration followed in Kenmare with their closest family and friends.  They dined on local fare, drank, and took in the incredible setting together.  “The style and location were great and close the ceremony location.  The view to the falls and river from the dining room was amazing!”  Their custom cake included a nod to their love for the outdoors and a bit of the luck of the Irish.

We Love…

Jenny looked wonderful in her emerald green, medieval-inspired dress.  We loved their daughter’s look as well — very unique and in keeping with the theme and her adorable floral crown of baby’s breath was the perfect touch. A light decor of white and greenery complimented the glorious greens throughout the day, keeping it relaxed and easy so the family could focus on enjoying the day.  The cake was a fun insight into Jenny and Roman’s loves and story — how they met, what they love to do — and added that pop of personalization that really worked for the day.

You can clearly see the love they all have for one another.  We love how they chose to focus on what really mattered to them and incorporated those pieces into the day:  emphasis on Nature,  drawing in heavily from from the Celtic traditions, allowing themselves to be spiritually present in the space and make that part of the ceremony atmosphere and wedding proper.
