Happy New Year! Welcome A Colorful Year of 2016!

As we say “goodbye” to 2015, we say “hello!!” to 2016 and a year promising of amazing trends and colors, especially for weddings. We’re so very excited about the official colors of Spring 2016, and think they will look just perfect incorporated into your dream destination wedding in Ireland. Whether a lavish ceremony and reception for your friends and family or an intimate elopement, no doubt 2016 is about COLOR and FUN and we’re so excited to help our couples plan and enjoy their dream day on our favorite Emerald Island.

2016 has many gorgeous colors we can look forward to. For spring, we can look for the classic and romantic Rose Quartz. Named after the crystal, it’s pale pink in all perfect pink glory and yields itself to any Irish wedding ceremony and reception. From sweet florals to groom and bride details, rose quartz is a natural choice for the Irish bride (or groom!). Not feeling pink? Try the equally elegant but with a punch of charisma, Peach Echo. Reddish tones take over on this peach hue, making it not for the faint of heart. Bold yet sweet at the same time, peach echo stands on its own against the glorious green landscape of Irish hills or can be combined with other accent colors like navy and golds for a formidable formal affair at an estate. If you want something more understated, then Serenity is the color for your wedding in 2016. With notes of blue, grey, and a pinch of whimsical periwinkle, serenity is reminiscent of a pale blue sky with wisps of clouds on a blustery spring day. A soothing palate of serenity with white, creams, and silver tones pairs perfectly with the verdant Irish landscape as well as the blues of coastline, like Dublin Bay. Speaking of the bay, particularly if you’re considering a wedding by the sea you must take into consideration Snorkel Blue into your color palette. Not quite as serious as navy, but decidedly more handsome than regular blue, snorkel blue adds an air of formality without being stuffy. It’s beautiful on its own as a main color, but really shines with contrasted with a brighter color. Think of snorkel blue as the suitor for the rest of the 2016 color line.  A lovely color for 2016 is Buttercup. Especially if you like yellows, this creamy merging of daffodil yellow with French vanilla is a soothing and sweet color tone that compliments any Irish wedding. We love this color for linens, with bright pops of fresh greenery from the garden for receptions or even a cascade of delicate flowers on the 3-dimensional cake. My personal favorite color for spring 2016 and one that many might not choose right off the get go for an Irish wedding is the gloriously attractive Limpet Shell.  A greener toned version of turquoise, limpet shell combines gloriously with shades of green to blue, yields itself to metallic contrasts (anything from yellow gold to platinum), and has a sense of organic perfection. On a perfectly sunny day you can see limpet shell in the waters of the ocean against Ireland’s coast. It’s stunning and could be used quite effectively for an Irish wedding, both by sea and on land. Lilac Grey is a gorgeous shade of grey. Although always my favorite color, black is so severe and many couples are opting for a lighter neutral like grey. Lilac grey, as the name implies, has a hint of purple tint making it very compatible with other blue-toned colors. Fore example, a lilac grey and rose quarts wedding palette would be most outstanding, and against the natural stone walls of a castle wedding, accented with some gold would be most elegant and on trend. Similarly, another neutral color that yields itself surprisingly well for weddings is Iced Coffee. Taupe tones with an undernote of caramel creates a luxurious and classic base. Heavenly creams and deep shades of green with pops of color like peach echo would make a glorious wedding palette for a spring Irish wedding. Speaking of green, Green Flash is not for the faint of heart. A pop of green is certainly this shade of emerald-meets-LED. Bright and fierce, green flash is the modern take on green and obviously a suiting color for any Irish wedding. But if you really want to make a statement, try Fiesta. Bold notes of orange-reds make this color the standout for spring. Going against the grain of traditional spring pastels, this in-your-face burst of color is eye-catching and instantly invokes feelings of joy and festivities abounding. We love it against the dark limestone of a castle wedding or paired against snorkel blue for a wedding by the sea.

Now that we’ve acquainted ourselves with the colors of spring 2016, let’s take a quick look at Tracey and Steve’s Irish wedding at Wicklow Lighthouse which happen to use many of the spring’s color trends just perfectly. From her stunning limpet shell shoes to the rose quartz cake, Tracey and Steve hit the mark with their beautiful nautical-themed wedding.

See you all in 2016 and Happy New Year! Athbhliain faoi mhaise dhuit!
