When we start planning our client’s destination wedding or elopement in Ireland every top 10 “must have” list includes at the very least photos featuring the wonderful Irish dramatic landscape but for most their first preference is also an outdoor wedding in Ireland. And we do have some of the most dramatic and breathtaking countryside and coastline in Europe! But navigating this rugged countryside in full wedding attire can be a little tricky so to help we have create our top 5 must have items to make a the trek a little more comfortable.

1.  Walk A Mile In Those Shoes!

NIGHTMARE ! not anymore thanks to Heels Above!  These nifty little protectors slide right on to your heels, making the treacherous ways of cobblestone streets, muddy grass, and pebbled beaches a thing of the past. When you’re back on level concrete ground simply slip them off and tuck them into your purse. They’re small enough to fit into even the smallest of clutches! As the website says, “Nothing should come between a girl and her heels!”

2.  Umbrellas Are Your Best Friend

“IT IS SO GREEN AND LUSH!” Yip that is the Irish countryside and we all know why. It rains A LOT! While we always have a plan B indoor option for the wedding ceremony should the weather not cooperate, couples still like to venture outdoors for a couple of photos in the very least. Think ahead and purchase a pretty wind proof umbrella that will not spoil the photos if they do have to appear in them! We are big fans of this Pagoda range.

3.  Wrap It Up

CHILLY EVEN IN THE HEIGHT OF SUMMER! It is true even in the middle of July it can still be a little chilly when you are wearing a strapless wedding dress!! There is a great tradition of knitting and crocheting in Ireland and a shawl is a simple elegant way to stay warm!  While you’re visiting Blarney Castle, be sure to visit the world-famous Blarney Woolen Mills. They have an impressive collection of knit shawls, capes, and sweaters that will keep you warm with Irish style. And it makes a fantastic souvenir to take home! And if you want to get something before the trip we love these knit boleros and shawls from Handmade Laremi.

4.  Where Are You???

If your bridal party are supposed to join you for photos on the Cliffs and are relying on Irish signpost to help find you things might not end so well!! Making sure that your Smartphone works in Ireland and has GPS is super important. At the very least when your guests are renting cars really encourage them to get the GPS package – our street signs are a disaster!

5. When In Doubt, Wellie Up!

If you are hoping to trek out into the middle of farm land for the perfect photo with your wedding party you might want to think about purchasing some wellies or rubber boots as they call them in the US, before you leave! And when it comes to wellies that you can treasure for a lifetime there really is only one choice! With a variety of colors Hunter are really the go-to rainboot. And they will take you through not only your entire Ireland trip but beyond.
